Entry 1
Item 1
Please Look a Little Deeper
( By Tiffany Trutenko )By my religion or my race,
Please don't laugh at what I wear,
Or how I look or do my hair,
Please look a little deeper,
Way deep down inside,
And although you may not see it,
I have a lot to hide,
Behind my clothes my secrets lie,
Behind my smile I softly cry,
Please look a little deeper,
And maybe you will see,
The lonely little girl,
That lives inside of me,
Please listen carefully to her,
She'll show you she's insecure,
Please try to be a friend to her,
And show her that you care,
Please just get to know her,
And maybe you will see,
That maybe if you look deep enough,
You'll find the real me.
Rhetorical devices:
+ Rhyme: face - race, wear - hair, hide - lie - cry...
+ Repetition: Please look a little deeper
Message:
We should not judge a person superficially by their appearance.
Item 2
Moral story
Thomas Edison tried
two thousand different materials in
search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked
satisfactorily, his assistant complained, "All our work is
in vain. We have learned nothing."
Edison replied very confidently, "Oh, we have come a
long way and we have learned a lot. We now know that
there are two thousand elements which we cannot use
to make a good light bulb.

Rhetorical devices:
Metaphor: two thousand different materials (mistakes), light bulb (success).
Message:
No one can get succeed in the first attempts. Learning from mistakes can lead to success.
Item 3
Rhetorical devices:
Metaphor: the bird (natural resources), children (population)
Message:
The population grows rapidly, natural resources are exhausting gradually. Without measures to limit population explosion, there will not be enough resources for human life.

In my opinion:
Trả lờiXóaitem 1: Rhetorical devices and message is good
item 2: Rhetorical devices and message is good
But item 3 I think message should : The population grows rapidly while natural resourse increasingly exhausted
god job! Congratulation!
Hello Hoa,
Trả lờiXóaI love the poem "Please look a little deeper" you chose. I think it's a thought-provoking poem.
Additionally, the following are some my comments for you to consider :
In Item 1:
Rhetorical devices:
+ Repetition : Please look a little deeper; Please don't... ; Please...
+ Parallelism :
Behind my clothes my secrets lie,
Behind my smile I softly cry,
In Item 2:
Rhetorical devices
+ Metaphor:
- two thousand unsuitable elements in search of a filament for the light bulb - attempts and failures
- elements can use to make a good light bulb - success
Message
Success may be a long process, so we can patiently learn from the failure to reach the goal.
In Item 3 :
Rhetorical devices:
+ Symbol : the white stork - the animal deliver babies to their families.
+ Metaphor :
the white stork - natural resources
babies - population
Message:
Population growth is putting a heavy burden/ pressure on limited natural resources.
This is just my personal opinion
